This portrait was taken of Peter during the Headshot Intensive in Denver. It was the first image I made after learning the techniques taught in the course. The subject is an artist who works with real bones, which influenced how I approached the lighting. I wanted to lean into a darker feel to reflect how I interpreted his character. After the course for the Intensive, I continued working on this image as part of my study, going back through each session and adjusting the lighting and overall feel as I refined my understanding. This final version is the last portrait I created for submission and represents the full application of what I learned throughout the course. Over the next month, I’ll be transitioning into headshot work from my other photography disciplines as I continue building and refining this new focus.
