As the name implies, Headshot of the Week (HOTW) runs every week—but eligibility rotates to keep things interesting and fair for our members. There are three variations:
- Standard HOTW – Open to all Coaching Group members who haven’t yet won twice.
- Winners Circle – For members who’ve previously won a HOTW or HOTM contest.
- Associate Showdown – Exclusively for official Associate Photographers.
These rotate in the following order: Standard, Winners, Standard, Associates—so there are two Standard contests each month.
This week's contest: Standard HOTW
This contest is open to all Coaching Group members. It’s your chance to get feedback on your latest headshot work from Peter Hurley and the Crew during a Zoom Crew Cast. Every entry receives a live critique during the broadcast, finalists are selected, and the community votes to choose the winner.
You’re eligible to win the standard HOTW contest up to two times. If you’ve ever won a HOTW or Headshot of the Month (HOTM) contest, you’re also eligible to enter the Winners Circle, our contest for previous champions. There’s no limit to how many times you can win in the Winners Circle—so keep bringing the heat!
Congratulations to the winner!
Great work!
- Images must have been shot during the previous week.

Jon Erlien could you talk about how you got such a great falloff from the highlights back? Like how much of it is in camera vs how much of it is in post? It looks soooo good!
Photograph on a white wall and make sure my subject is about 6ft or 72' away. My camera settings on my GFX100 are ISO 400, F/6.4, 1/125. I do add a bit of darkening in post, but not much.
What modifiers are you using? Just LOVE it!
I’m using a non Westcott flex kit. 2 - 1x3 and 1-1x2... check out my insta for some BTS
