2020 Headshot Crew Fitness Challenge!

Well, 2020 is here and I know many of you make resolutions to better yourselves in every way, shape, and form. For me, the New Year is usually a good time to revisit my current goals and make fitness goals as well.

Whether you want to lose weight, gain weight or just get yourself healthier than no better time than now to do it. We've done this challenge HSC style in the past and have seen people make great strides.

I'm a bit of a yoyo with my weight and have kept it in pretty decent shape since weighing in at 230 lbs on 1/1/15. I haven't gone back up into that realm in the past 5 years but did weigh in at 209.9 this morning after midnight. I need to weigh around 185 lbs to remain competitive in my Laser and the Master World Championships that are taking place in Australia in March. There is a pre-regatta starting March 13th, so that's my date to weigh in at 185 lbs. I essentially need to lose 25lbs by then. I did weigh in after gorging myself with a New Year's feast though! So I'm optimistic I'm going to get off to a good start.

If you'd like to partake in the challenge then feel free to add a comment below. If you want to add a shot of your current weight on your scale or if you have no fear then feel free to post a current body shot!

We'll check in every now and then to see how everyone is doing and of course I'll be posting on social. So watch out for #abalerts once I get the abs to come out and play.

Here's my current situation while pushing the gut out and sucking that sucker in! Let's see where I can get it in the coming months. Who's in?

Women are a good motivation.... Pretty much trumps everything so... Go get it!! LMAO!!!

How are we all doing here? I had a little bump in the road due to the travel, Super Bowl and my twins B'day! I'm getting back on track. Going hard for a week or so. Need an update on this for people. I think we should do a separate crewcast to see where everyone is at for those still gung ho!

I'm six pounds down from when I started, so I'm pleased. I really see a change in my eating habits. I'm not hungry all the time, and no more evening eating! My exercise program is on hold as my ankles heal, but they're doing better. I should be doing seated upper body and core, but... I haven't. Time to start doing what I can now, instead of waiting until I can do it all!

From 112kg just before Christmas, I am now 105.7 (last night on the scales). This is about 13 pounds (I believe) for a bit over a month. I started with Atkinson diet and now I am also fasting (16-8 hour schema) and having as much physical activity as I can (some times I have exercises even twice a day).

Now I need to get more sleep and I may actually hit my target of 91 kg in May.

I’m down 12 lbs, some of it accelerated after a trip to Vegas in January where I came down with a bronchial virus. Bring your sani wipes!
Would love to get a group at the hotel gym or out for some runs during HM2...

Rockin bro! Its snowing outside.... Who cares! Man up! So I worked out inside... like a wimp! HA!

45 minutes on the bike 14MPH pace
60 Pushups
10 Squats at 120 pounds
50 Squats at 160 pounds

Down 93 pounds since May.

27.1 pounds down since Jan 2! Started at 296.6, never thought I'd see the 260s so soon!

KitKats. They are my weakness. And chocolate. Still training and getting stronger, but my diet.... yikes. Cooked 3 weeks of healthy breakfasts over the weekend, so hopefully that will help my mornings. No chips for breakfast!! Trying to stick to that rule. :-D

I hear you! If KitKats are your weakness, I hope you don't know about Japanese KitKats! They're what happens when KitKats go to heaven... OMG. I periodically (when my daughter is home) get a Japanese snack subscription service called Bokksu that's amazing. Have stopped getting it now because I cannot snack that way and lose weight.

Many nutritionists recommend just a square or two or dark chocolate daily... if you can stop there, lol. Sometimes I can, especially if it's a high quality dark chocolate. Nibble, nibble, savor... nibble, nibble, savor. But other times, I have to declare myself a chocoholic, and vouch that I am powerless in the face of chocolate and must refrain entirely.

Good for you for preparing healthy breakfasts ahead of time!! The more we can pre-plan, the less likely we are to make poor choices in the moment!

1/1/20: 296.6
Whole30 begins
1/6/20: 287.5
1/13/20: 285.5
1/20/20: 279.7
1/27/20: 275.6
2/3/20: 272.5

2/10/20: 268.0
Total lost: 28.6

Did a crappy job quitting Whole30 and am still following the plan until I have a reason not to I guess.

I had a bit of a hiccup but I’m happy to report that I’m down from 216 to 212! I find using a journal helps. I also use a heart rate monitor when working out to record my stats.

Woo-hoo!! I didn't gain any weight during Mania 2!! Those poke bowls were my go-to choice, and the ceviche, and I only drank (alcohol) during the parties. I did indulge in a burger and sweet-potato fries -- but only twice, and I only ate the whole burger once. (Big burgers! And good!!)

I've lost 11 pounds since I started, and I've got 16 more to go to reach my ultimate goal. My birthday -- May 15th -- is my goal-date. If I don't make it completely to my ultimate goal, I know I'll be close.

Peter, you're the Super Abs Man!! You totally nailed your goal. Man you're ripped. Way to go!! #inspiration

I gained 0.4 pounds. Not bad!

That's like nothing, Jon! Weight fluctuates from day-to-day -- water retention, etc. -- so I call that even.

I gained a quick 6 pounds in the 5 days I was in Florida for my Zoo photography instead of at HSM2. So you did great! All that extra weight for me is gone already. It might have been a lot of water retention because I was hydrating like crazy due to the heat in Florida. Probably more than needed. But the Pizza and Hamburgers was part of it too.

I lost 6-lbs during Mania2! Only 25--lbs more for a hip replacement. I'll be starting swimming in March to expedite this.

Wow, Veronica!! That's fantastic!!! You must have been incredibly disciplined!! You lost 6 lbs in five (six?) days?! What did you eat -- air?? ;)

Way to go!! :D

I ate healthily, drank a lot of water (close to a gallon a day) and didn't drink any alcohol. I had burgers, sweet potato fries (didn't eat all that were served), salads, salmon, steaks, fruits, and cashews. I'm still sugar-free! I don't know how many days, but I don't plan on consuming sugar anymore. It inflames my body.

I’m happy to report that I actually lost a few pounds at Mania2! Must have been all that dancing at the party! ?

Yes I am! ? Btw my flex kit is on the way!! Can’t wait.

I'm having a motivational challenge, folks. I've been doing really well up until recently, but for the last few days I've stumbled.

The slow healing of my ankles is disappointing. Over and over again, they've felt so much better that I thought this was all over, but when I increased my activity just a little bit, the next day they were aching again. It's somewhat depressing to just sit all day. I've been doing some upper body exercises and others that aren't weight-bearing, but not consistently. My doctor, whom I like and trust, tells me the best way for them to heal is just to rest them.

I have one client booked two days from now, an on-site corporate client that has been working with me for a few years. I was supposed to shoot four people, but one canceled, so now I'm going on-site to just shoot three. Maybe that's fine, though -- my set-up fee remains the same, and it''ll be that much less standing time for me.

I haven't been working hard to book new clients until I know that I can work without settling my ankles back. I'm very short, so shooting sitting down doesn't work for me -- I'm usually standing on a stepstool. Plus there's all the light adjustments during the shoot.

With too much time on my hands, it's easy to start circling the Internet and that's not always helpful. All the news about the Corona virus doesn't help, but honestly I'm more upset about the way the US administration is handling the situation than about the virus itself.

I haven't totally gone off my healthy eating routine, but I've slipped. I know my body and what I need to do, and at 5 ft nothing and 62 years old, I need to keep my calories down to around 1,000 a day. When I'm in the groove, this isn't hard. I am comfortable with the one-meal a day plus one light snack routine. But when I'm frustrated and bored, well, eating calls. And I found some nice sake in my fridge...

I'm munching on some Baruka nuts now. They're fantastic, and very healthy! But, calories.

Just thought I'd vent a little here. Maybe just posting this will help me shore up my resolve. I had lost 11 pounds so far, but I haven't weighed myself in almost a week. (I usually weigh myself every other day.) Hopefully I can get back on track before I lose (gain?) too much ground.

Crossed the 40 pounds down mark the other day! All in all I've lost 41.5 pounds since January 1!
