My greatest subject, my daughter, who finally let us do a headshot now that the braces are OFF!

Honest opinion, if you get a more standard pose, and work out a bit the color you can win the contest. The light is good (triangle setup with light grey as a background with proper separation) and you already have the subject. I would recommend you to check past winners to see what I mean.

Thank you for the critique. To be honest we usually follow some more standard headshot poses as we do have others of her in this series that we felt were better but for this time we put out what our daughter loved the most because it was the one she said made her look the most relaxed. We treated it as if she was a client. I wasn't quite sure the color issue mentioned as we usually make sure not to over saturate but always willing to examine all possibilities. Thanks again.

I give my clients what they want, what makes them happy.

And, I choose photos that show what I want to shoot.

What you deliver to a client and what ends up in your portfolio are not always the same.

In the context of headshots, the emphasis is the face. Anything distracting from that takes away from the goal of a good headshot.

Beautiful photo. Fun photo. I'm sure your daughter loves it.

Great eyes and smile! Her right arm is to prominant IMO.

I’m with Hose, lovely image and great lighting too.
