Headshot Crew Fitness Challenge mid-month update

We are 1/2 way through the month PEOPLE!

If you'd like to submit images to update your originals we'll do that monthly, so wait until February to do that. If you want to jump in on it then get going and if you are adventurous as some send some pics over to info@peterhurley.com and I'll post them in the original post here: https://ph2pro.com/post/93304

I hope those of you going for this are handling cravings and the brain telling you that you don't have time to get a little workout in. Just remember this isn't a sprint it's a marathon. Take it at your own pace and conquer whatever goals you may have for your health.

There is neverending advice on how to get in shape, but you have to find what's right for you. What's right for me now wouldn't have been what I needed when I was training for the Olympics, nor could I handle what I did at that time anyway! When I was modeling I did a completely different workout to rip it up and that got me a cover shoot for Men's Health and the Abercrombie & Fitch job I was able to do. I'm really proud of the shape I got my body into at that time.

However, now I'm approaching 45 and not nearly in that shape. I'm easing into it at my own pace, doing something that motivates me and doesn't kill me. I'm handling cravings and eating healthy. I'm listening to my body as well. I'm focused and rolling right now, so sticking with this plan. Don't like all the fitness talk out there, so I'm keeping my head down and doing what feels right to my body.

Hope you guys are doing the same. I'm down 18 lbs since Dec 31st and feeling more energy and more flexible than I can remember in recent years. SHABANG!

Outstanding - Great to read how this is working for you - 18pds in 15 days is a major effort! My update = 6 pds, summary of start wt/current wt/target wt = 183/177/165 - combination of snack restriction/increased activity.

Congratulations - thank you for setting the challenge and the expectations!

I'm down 7 lbs since jan 5th, dieting is the easy part, working out 6 days a week not so easy - goddamn burpees are killing me:-D

I detest burpees... I just feel silly doing them haha.

I would agree with you Chris, if only they didn't make me feel so weak:-D

Burpees seem to be state of the art right now with you guys!!?? I doubt that you are burning a lot of calories with these suckers? Get on a bike, swim or row for 30 - 45 minutes, do it for cardio training with a pulse rate around 110 - 120 and you will be fine. Burpees catapult your pulse up into the sky what for? You are within seconds in the anaerobe area with no gain what so ever for your general fitness! Power is coming from protein in your muscles and they will run sour.
One hour of biking at an average revolution of 80 per minute makes you loose about 600 calories.
Of course my 2cents!!

I am 10 pounds down from Jan 5th to Thursday Jan 15th.

When I listen to my body it says that I am too old for this shit!! But my body has lied to me too many times!!!

Nice going Hanns, pretty impressive! If you keep that up, I'm gonna start calling you Hanns Hasselhoff;-)

Burpees aren't for burning calories, it's for building muscle. I do weights and crossfit every other day and cardio in between those days. My BMI isn't too far off where it should be, but I know for a fact that I am skinny fat.

Good one, Jonas!! You have never heard me sing thou!!!! As long as I would have to hang out with curvy blondes in red bathing suits I wouldn´t mind! Reminds me that I had the full training of a lifesaver but today they would have to send a backup with me in order to get me out of the water, too!
I have to look out for those guys from Greenpeace - I had once a couple of them dragging me into the water!!! These suckers thought they would save a whale!!

Funny enough I did read something about this kind of training in my Sunday paper and realized that it´s this muscle thing with burpees. Learned something.

My struggle is finding a good routine that works with shift work. But right now I workout 3 days, 2 days rest, repeat (to follow my work schedule). Each of the three days I do one day cardio, one day H.I.I.T / Calisthenics, then one day cardio. I'm down about 5lbs, and I feel a lot better then I did at the beginning of the month. :)

I am down 4.5 lbs. But the most exciting part for me is I haven't failed with my "start slow and build up" work out. Three times a day I make sure that I am up and moving, squats, arm circle thingies, stretching, jumping jacks etc. I add something new every 3-4 days. It may seem pretty minimal to some of you, but for me, I have not "worked out" in years it is working for me. Don't get me wrong, I don't just sit around all day. I am shooting, I have a small contract with a local hospital photographing newborns (lots of walking and running around). I start my day with a mini workout, take a break middle of the day and another miniwork out, and then every evening. The goal in the future start the day with the min workout with a glass of water, because it is GREAT to get my blood pumping and start the day. Then by the end of the day go to a full workout, with weights etc.

No images from me, but so far down 6kg (just over 13 pounds) in 2 weeks by just swimming an hour and walking at least 5kms every day and not eating (as much) junk. Feeling a hell of a lot better for it!
