My name is Jim Burns, I am a Chicagoan who now lives in Western NY State. I have been interested in photography since I was in grade school. Since I was young, I have always liked collecting old cameras and shooting film when I could afford it. The science of photography has always come easily to me. In recent years I have also learned the art of photography. I am now at the point to where, If I see it in my mind, I can shoot it. Studio portraits.
If you are like me, you might find it hard to walk in front of a camera. I am not able to instantly produce a natural smile for the camera, without relaxing and warming up. Also if you are like me, and you start to think about needing to perform on command, the genuine smile might never come. I understand not all of us are lucky enough to be able to turn on and off on command.
When you come to my studio for a sitting we will not be rushed for time. Adults and children are greeted and given a tour, given time to get ready and prepare for getting in front of the camera. As we start to work towards the perfect pictures we will chit chat and talk about our lives and interests, if all goes well we will share a laugh or two. All the while I will work with you to capture an image of who you really are, how you see yourself. No forced poses or smiles just a beautiful picture of you.
