Headshot Crew is here and we need this crew in shape!

Not only did I hit my goal I surpassed it!

As many of you know from this post I was 230 lbs on January 1st. As you can see from my goal below when I first wrote this I wanted to hit 190 lbs for the regatta. A week prior to the event I was 187 lbs. If you are interested in how I did it you can check out my trainer: www.joelharperfit.com and my diet: http://headshotcrew.isagenix.com

I wish I had posted my goal for the regatta here, but in my head it was always to be in the top 5 at the event. Top 3 would be a major bonus. I didn't think I could pull of first or second because I wasn't able to spend much time on the water. However, I did it PEOPLE! 2nd place in the world for my age group.(45-55) Pretty darn cool! Got the silver medal to show for it.

How is everyone doing with their goals?

2015 HEADSHOT CREW FITNESS CHALLENGE!

Ok, so it's 2015 and I hope you are all setting goals for yourself for this year. One of mine is to get in shape. I've disregarded my health long enough and 2015 is my year to get in some serious shape!

I've got a few reasons for doing it. First, I turn 45 and become a master in the boat that I sailed when I was on the US Sailing Team. I have the masters world championship in July and my fighting weight in that boat was 180lbs. I don't think I can get there, but my goal is 190lbs for that regatta.

I've also got the Fstoppers workshop in the Bahamas in May and I hope a ton of you are going to make the effort to go this year! I've got limited space in my workshops, so if you do decided to go sign up! www.fstoppersworkshops.com For those going we should all make an effort to get it together for that event.

I've already started to roll, but I was such a slob at the the end of 2014 that I got my weight up to 230 lbs! I've never weighed that much, but I'm serious, hired a trainer, got my wife onboard and even my mother in-law who is the cook in the house is on the program.

If any of you guys are interested I'd like all of us to motivate each other. I'm posting the shot of my scale as well as a shot I took yesterday along with Damian, who wanted to jump onboard too.

We'll do updates during our upcoming crewcasts and see if I can get some giveaways behind it from some sponsors. I'll keep you guys posted on that end of things.

Do a body shot of yourself right now if you like and ladies don't be afraid here! A shot in a sports bra or whatever you deem appropriate will work. Or just do a scale shot if you aren't up for baring it all! Email them to info@peterhurley.com and I'll post them in here.

HERE WE GO PEOPLE!!!!  Easier done with a crew motivating you, so let's get to it!

Today show health says it may take up to 66 days to break a habit. Conventional wisdom say 21, but I'm in it for the long haul: http://www.today.com/health/think-itll-take-21-days-make-your-resolution-habit-try-2D11826051

Who needs an exercise routine when you have Northern Ontario winters and a driveway. Also, I can't feel my arms.

I guess there are no excuses after all this great information. Good luck.

Week one - down 12.4 lbs and a very long way to go.... :-)

Boy this isn't easy, I went to Las Vegas and came back having lost weight! Never did that before. Hope those that are going for it are hanging tough.

Wow James! That's great. How did you lose 12lbs in a week? Shabang!

Wendy, we dropped all processed foods - nothing that comes out of a box or can or has a nutrition label. Just meats, eggs, lots of veggies and when I have to have something sweet, either 85% dark chocolate or the occasional fig. Also I am trying to hit two gallons of water a day. I'm sure that it's mostly water weight that I lost, but even so, the usual reason for that is the depletion/reduction of glycogen stores which means my body isn't storing energy as much as it is starting to take energy out of storage.

James, that´s the way to go!!! Forgot to mention fruit. Don´t think you need actually 2 gallons of water (good heavens - how often do you have to get up in the middle of the night for a pee????). One additional thing I think that helps a lot - in the water I drink there are 2-3 slices of citron in it. I have lost about 10 lbs last week with a similar diet than yours - includ. exercise (no pies and lattes!!)

Hanns, I did it in imperial units, but you Europeans use those funny measurements... So here you go: Water (in litre) to drink a day = Your Weight (in kg) Multiply by 0.033

So at 167 kilograms, I need almost 6 litres of water a day. In imperial units, I was showing 1.9 gallons at my current weight.

Im in on this too, folks.
Started (again)at 274.2. Need to get it down to 220ish maybe more.

I'm also tracking over on Myfitnesspal.

Sooo obvious that this is a group of photographers on a weight loss challenge! lol. Most 'before and after' sets aren't of this quality.

I'm in... started last fall participating in a pilates and food-reset plan a friend of mine developed (sent her my before photo and then immediately deleted it from my records :P).

PS - Great marketing opportunity to partner with fitness professionals; photos are a great personal reward when the 'after' is achieved. Headshots, portraits, fashion etc...

Every discussion I run across dealing with weight loss, nutrition and exercise is filled with more baloney than a delicatessen. Try reading the science folks! Paleo, gluten free, coconut oil, no more desire for sweet after three weeks, blah, blah. I am not a fanatic so even though the science says that meat is unhealthful (and that includes grass fed/organic) and refined sugar is unhealthful, I'll eat a few lambchops or roast a chicken about once a month because I grew up on meat and I like it. But I do all my own cooking from scratch and it consists of vegetables, whole grains, and beans. I'm 77 and retired so I've got the time, but it's still a pain in the ass. All that peeling and chopping. Compared to most others my age (excluding Greek shepherds climbing mountains at 90) I'm healthy. Blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, triglycerides, resting heart rate, etc. all good. Of course, age and self abuse from jogging or ignorance about weight lifting have taken their toll--artificial knees, enlarged prostate, bouts of sciatica, rotator cuff tear. But I recently hiked nine miles in the Burmese mountain area; I can ride a recumbent trike 45 miles; I walked up to the Sun Gate at Machu Picchu; I read some Kant and Hegel and understood what I was reading. Oatmeal and blueberries for breakfast along with two cappuccinos, huge salad and humus on sprouted wheat bread for lunch, and some vegetarian dish for dinner. No alcohol. Unsalted peanuts and pistachios in the shell for snacking, fruit and yogurt for dessert. I satisfy my urge for sweets by mixing cocoa (raw, organic) with some sugar and eating it with a spoon dry. I also lift weights twice a week (a lot heavier than the other old farts I see at the gym) and ride a recumbent trike 3X a week. I'm "overweight," but for someone who loves food and does a lot of sitting, I'm doing as well as is reasonable without risking becoming obsessed and crazy.

No Images as of yet. Down from 32% body fat and 94kgs (207lbs in old money) to 27.5% body fat and 87kg (191lbs).

Major changes are more exercise, controlled diet. more water intake 2.5 litres per day. Minimum of 2 litres per day.

Where my average Calorie intake for the past few months has been somewhere in the region of 1400 Calories per day. The majority of it was lets face it junk.

Skipping breakfast was a regular occurrence, and despite my knowledge, i still did it. The solution: Just have breakfast. Things that are fast are Egg Muffins, You can make them 3 to 4 days in advance. Whip those bad boys up. throw them in the oven on a sunday night and have one each morning. Great source of Protein.

Over the past few weeks, I have done what I kinda failed to do in the past. Lose my relationship with food. Fish for breakfast is still where i draw the line. Yesterday was a heavy training day, over 3500 calories consumed. I had a steak for breakfast and 2 large free range eggs with some Gluten free wholewheat toast covered with Wyldsson Elite Nut and Seed Butter. As a man. This pleased me no end.

My Daily Calorie consumption is now a minimum of 2300 Calories per day. Consuming low levels of Calories in a day for the most part will make your body store energy when you do eat, as adipose (Fat tissue) like a hibernation mode.

So get those calories into you guys.

Also, I have almost eliminated Dairy. In Ireland we are very fortunate, that all dairy and live stock is what in America is called Green Stock. (Grass Fed) In America, most cows etc are fed Corn Meal Pellets and Soy based Pellets. While these are protein based and causes the animal (Especially Dry Stock (Burger and Steak Cows) to build mass giving a bigger meat return, this is not very good for the end user.. as in the people eating the steak. If you eat growth hormones as a by product of animal feed, it will increase your mass.

Same goes for fish. Try eat grass fed animals, and fresh fish, not farmed. Farmed fish are fed pellets too.

So my Calorie intake is up massively, along with my intake of fatty acids. Fatty Acids, oils are vital for fat loss. Just as important as consuming enough water. (will get to the water thing in a second)

Every Morning, as those who follow me on twitter and Facebook may have seen, I am now taking on what is termed Bullet Proof Coffee. without using their brand. We have a lovely coffee brand in Ireland called Bewleys and I drink their Fair Trade coffee. Fresh from the grinder. So the recipe for Bullet Proof Coffee?

2 Shots of good fresh Espresso, you know its fresh if it has the foam on top.
10grams of Unsalted Grass Fed butter. Kerry gold is the best. Silver foil one is the unsalted.
I add a teaspoon of Coconut oil too. just to supercharge it.

You can mix it in a blender, i find a protein shake mixer with the grid in it works fine. Shake it, pour out into a cup and let it rest for a minute. Tastes creamier and better than any coffee with milk or cream you've ever had.

No SUGAR!! Refined sugar has no nutritional value,
**** Note**** there are websites and blogs saying this coffee is a good replacement for breakfast. It is not. You need vitamins, minerals and fibre you won't get from coffee. So it is not a meal replacement. Try to limit the amount of them you have per day to 1 or 2.

This coffee is approximately 270 Calories. Goes down well with a power omelette

My power omelette recipe. 3 Eggs (2 if you can't handle 3), 3 flourettes of broccoli, 1/2 a small onion, 1/4 Capsicum pepper (red), 1/4 cucumber cut as you like.

Fry the onion diced or chopped in the pan with some coconut oil. Don't fry in olive oil, or those 1% sprays, They are cancer in a bottle. Low burn temperature and Low FAT is just a marketing ploy. doesn't do anything for weight loss (Consume fat, to lose fat)

Whisk or beat the eggs, getting plenty of air in there, pour onto the onions after 1 minute or so. when the egg starts to thicken, throw the rest in. Some people might like to throw it all in and pour the egg over.

Takes 2 minutes, plus 3 or 4 to eat. No Excuse!
Personally i peal the Capsicum, The skin as with tomato skin is something your body cannot break down and you just expel it. It also takes up energy from your digestive system to try break down.

Water!! Water in Fat loss is essential. Not only is it vital for life and makes up 65% in adults, 60% in men. Water helps to clean out toxins, toxins which inevitably cause illness, lethargy and a desire for things like Carbohydrates (sugars).
Water to the human body is actually a diarrhetic meaning it dehydrates you. Causing you to draw moisture from Fat Cells.

Yes people. Water dehydrates you. So drink loads. You will lose weight faster. Plus you will wash away all of the toxins in your body and look younger. (it does not reverse male pattern balding or grey hair) sorry boys.

Ladies, It plumps the skin, rejuvenates elastin levels and keeps those lips full and wrinkle free.

Carbs and cravings.

When you get, as we all do a craving for something sweet, what your body is actually craving is Carbohydrates. Carbs are broken down by the digestive system to create glucose, which is transported by Insulin into the cells. Tired Cells will crave Carbs. So don't cut them out of your diet altogether.

What you can do however is snack on heathy Carbs and sugars. Dried banana is a good one. It also contains Fructose (the naturally occurring sugar in fruits).

It is also advisable to eat akaline foods you can get the lists online. Find what you like and make your own diet from it.

Thanks for listening. And good luck with get fitness

Crazy diet John, kinda got hungry from that steak breakfast and bulletproof coffee doesn't sound bad at all:-D

Mr. Murray. Great Advice!!! People pay for that:) One of these days I will have to make it to Ireland. R

Spending two months in Brazil didn't do much good to my fitness, I'll jump in the scale when I get back next week, but I have a strong feeling I'm gonna need to jump in with y'all.

Here's the original post that started it all!

How's everyone doing in this dept? Do we need a CREWCAST solely to support those that need it on the health front? I'm hanging in there. About to go work out!

down like 14lbs. more importantly, the tape measuring is down.
just got back from a run.
Shooting a bunch of pro wrestlers on Wednesday so I expect those boys to have me movin'!

Who else wants to give us an update on their progress?

Peter, because of your latest trio of shots I was inspired to go to the gym today. I have not gone in nearly 2 years and yet have been paying $30 a month for the membership. It felt great and while I am taking the slow and steady route to weight loss I am down 5 lbs since my above picture. Thanks again for pushing us and providing us with the tools to be the best we can be.

ah now I've gone 3 times!

Okay, So I changed my diet to gluten free back in January, but actually put on weight. Then on March 4th I decided to cut all grains and dairy and i'm now down from 230 to 220. I'm losing almost a pound a day so far so i'm planning on losing around another 40lbs maybe more.

I'm already doing the Isagenix 90 Day Nutritional Cleanse! Gluten free, no fake sugar and undenatured whey. :)

APRIL UPDATES PEOPLE!!!

I'm down 53 pounds total to 188. I'm an isagenix user so things have been on fire for me lately.

188 is nuts! Wow! I might need to isagenix it up. I'm at a standstill.

I have used Isagenix for 5 years now. The first time I used it, I went from a size 12 to a size 6 in three months and have stayed between a 6 - 8 ever since. Never over. :) When I hit a plateua, I used cycling - cleansed mon & tues, shake days weds, thurs, fri & saturday, then sunday was a free day. It took me over the plateau! :) Best thing was it was after my car accident and I couldn't really work out and I still dropped it. I'm in my car driving to shoots all day so I use the packets and bottled water and mix it at stoplights (i'm that fast). LOL

Now that deserves a pat on the back! Great job and a huge congratulations!!

So i need to say i didn't get my goal, Its sad but i will keep gooing, the biggest problem i have is my motivation.
I motivate myself a lot on other topics and try to change to much things at the same time. So i lost here.

I think i need my headshotcrew friends to get that topic back on my screen. But don't no how you could help me :)

By the Way, i have to congrats all of you for archiving that great wight loss you all have. we shold count that together to see a summary LBS :)

Best Thomas
