Who's in the Crew? - Spotlight on Vadim Daniel
NAME - Vadim Daniel
WHERE ARE YOU FROM AND WHERE DO YOU LIVE NOW?
Currently, I’m Canadian, based in Montreal. I was born in USSR and my family immigrated to Israel in 1990. After the second Israel - Lebanon war in 2006, while working as a photojournalist I made a decision to move to Canada.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN SHOOTING HEADSHOTS?
I always enjoyed photographing portraits. I think the first time I heard about Headshots was back in 2011 from Peter. Since then the Headshots photography became my main field.
WHAT IS YOUR LIGHTING SETUP FOR HEADSHOTS?
Same as Peter’s, but using strobes. I’m using 3 strobes Profoto B10 250W. They are so small in size and perfect for traveling.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR STUDIO. DO YOU OWN IT? RENT IT? OR LIVE IN IT?
For many years I've been using my living room as a full-time studio. Two years ago I rented a small commercial space and it’s just perfect for my needs. My revenue went all the way up, just from having a commercial studio in the best location in town.
WHAT ELSE DO YOU LIKE TO SHOOT?
Environmental portraits on location, mixing available light with strobes. It’s always challenging you as a photographer.
For years I’ve been shooting products. I love to shoot complicate products with shiny surfaces and reflected surfaces.
WHEN DID YOU FIRST DISCOVER PH AND THE HSC?
Probable 2012, even before PH2PRO. I think I was one of the first members of PH2PRO. Always around, but not really active.
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO JOIN THE CREW ONCE YOU FOUND IT?
It so far the best and only place to learn and become not only a headshot photographer but a photographer in general. It’s a family of amazing, supportive people
