2021 Headshot Crew Weightloss or Get in Overall Kick Ass shape Challenge!

Here we are again PEOPLE!

I always get fired up to get in shape this time of year. I don't believe in resolutions because I've always had them fade by the wayside, so I set concrete goals instead. I've been able to keep myself in pretty good shape and stay accountable in staying on track with it when I'm racing my Laser, but since I didn't get to race much in 2020 I let myself get a little behind the eight ball. However, I've got a new workout routine with my buddy that's got me super fired up and I'm actually stronger than I've ever been in the gym. So who's with me to get in shape in 2021?

I'll lay out my goals for you so I can keep myself accountable. I'm about 212 right now I think and will confirm that later when I get to my scale at home. I need to get down to 187 for the World Championship in September and be super fit. Plan is to get as close as possible to that by Feb 18th when I jump in the boat for the first time in Florida. In order to do so, I'm getting damn serious. Every time I stop drinking alcohol I drop weight like a rock, so I made a deal with my wife and workout buddy that I'm not drinking until my 20th Wedding Anniversary on June 8th! If I fail then my workout buddy and I have to do 500 burpees all at once until we are finished with them. Believe me I'm not failing. I'm also doing 50 reps of abs per day, 15 minutes of stretching and 15 minutes of meditation.

I put this out there to you guys, so you know how serious I am and to hold myself super accountable to get it done. From my track record I don't mess around, so should be a done deal. Benefits? I'll be in the best shape of my life since I was training for the Olympics. I won't be hung over anymore and my mornings will be much more productive.

If you are willing to jump in at whatever capacity works for you let me know. I know we've had great success with getting this crew in shape every year I do it. So whether you want to drop lbs or just be healthier or whatever it is for you just jump in on this with me and our other crew members!

I'm gonna SHABANG the crap outta it!

Peter

If any of you are looking for short but intense workouts to either get you started or to add into your existing routine, I have two online workout resources that I like.

Some background on where I'm coming from, to give context to these rec's. I have been working out and exercising in various forms since I was a teen. I have done road biking, martial arts, weight training, skiing, kayaking, boot camp, running, and more. I think weight training is really important for women, especially as we age.

I fell off all my routines in the past few years. First, I moved my aging, ailing father in to live with us, and became his full-time caregiver. It took up most of my life and energy, but I am grateful that I could do it, and will never regret it. But I let both my business and my health slide. I could have worked on keeping my fitness up during that time, but I did not.

After my dad passed away, I began to return to my fitness programs, but I found that I always tried to do too much too soon. I remembered what I used to be able to do when I was fit, and it was hard for me to take it slow. I injured myself by going too fast. So I decided that I needed a way to on-ramp safely into fitness, until I could return to what I used to do.

Then Covid hit. I was looking for online/remote workout routines that would get me there. I liked the idea of The Mirror https://www.mirror.co/ -- Peloton-like but with more varieties of exercise -- but it's pretty expensive. So I looked for other options.

The first one was recommended to me by Jon Meadows. It's called Age Proof Your Body. https://www.ageproofyourbody.com/ It uses interval/HIIT training techniques it calls EMOMs - Every Minute on the Minute. Each week there's a different workout which you can either join live, or do when you want. There's a library of past workouts for you to do when you like. It takes you through a foundational series of exercises like planks, burpees, lunges, etc., as well as balance work, which you can them mix-and-match into workouts of one minute each of up to 5-8 exercises, done in three rounds in a series. Each workout is from 15 - 30 minutes long. There are modifications given to make each exercise easier or harder. It also has yoga, Pilates and stretch classes. It's a membership program which costs $30/month.

The second one is a free 30-day challenge called Make Fat Cry. https://makefatcrychallenge.com/ You sign up, and get a daily workout link sent to you by email. The workouts are only 15-minutes, but challenging. The trainer is over-the-top enthusiastic and high-energy, but if you can get past her bubbly-ness, they are good workouts. She tries to monetize this by pushing her paid diet program, but not too much and it's easy to ignore.

Both these programs can be done without any special equipment, just with body weight, but both also allow you to add weights to the workouts to make them more challenging.

I know there are thousands of similar resources. I liked the flexibility of these, and felt that they were easy to do and would be easy to continue to fit into my routine. Just thought I'd share these.

Thats a great goal! I'm in to start meditating, lose 10 lbs by end of April and Only drink alcohol on Friday nights, We have my 88 year old mom living with us so my husband and I started Friday night happy hour for her to have something to look forward to and its working. My ihusband has been pretty crafty with the cocktails.

Weight's not a problem for me, but strength is! So I joined Camp Gladiator in December. Got derailed the last couple of weeks with a minor surgical procedure, but hope to start up next Monday. My routine will be 3 CG classes and 3 fitness walks a week. I really enjoy the fitness walks, but not so much the CG classes. Oh well! And my goal is to walk the Dallas Marathon 10k in April at a pace under 18mins/mile. Good luck to everyone here in meeting your goals. Being fit and healthy is wonderful goal to pursue.

I'm in! First step is to fast track 10-15 pounds off before Peter takes my headshot at Intensive in West Palm Beach next month.

I'm in! I've already lost 30-lbs and three pant sizes since October by eliminating sugar. My goal in eliminating sugar was to reduce inflammation in my hip (osteoarthritis) and was surprised when I had stepped on the scale. I will lose 50-lbs by the end of June by using my rowing machine, doing yoga, meditating, definitely some dancing, eating more vegetables, and less meat, and drinking a gallon of water daily.

I dig this! I'm in. Going to set some goals and milestone markers to hit to keep myself on track.

I'm in!!

Like many others, the COVID weight crept on! Rotator cuff surgery back in August didn't help matters! I just started a 21-day cleanse to get things started for 2021. The cleanse is meant to eliminate dietary triggers and sensitivities (of which I have several) and get me back to eating clean, whole foods. During the cleanse I don't take in enough calories to do any super strenuous workouts, but after the cleanse I can go back to harder workouts.

The gym I belong to closed for good during the shutdown, but the OrangeTheory Fitness near me now offers classes outside. They just sent an email to former members to re-join for a discount. I'm thinking about it but workouts in the cold during the winter months don't appeal to me. I used fitbits in the past to track activities and stats, but they broke often and I stupidly kept replacing them (4 in total). Now I use a Garmin fenix 5 and I can't recommend it enough!

A year ago I was in great shape preparing to do the Bataan Memorial Death March at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. Due to COVID, the event was cancelled the day before I was supposed to fly there. This year the event is happening virtually so I plan to join a few others (versus the 10,000 people at the actual event) to complete the 26.2 mile march in April to honor the memory of brave Filipino and American soldiers. My dad's oldest brother was a survivor. https://bataanmarch.com/

I'm a total newbie here - I look forward to motivation and support from the HSC...for photography, for fitness, for life! Let's do this!!

I did THIS for my 50th birthday 2 years ago, I absolutely no longer look like this and want to for my 52nd year. It was a pain in the ass but I don’t want to look old. I’m ready for a good challenge - I’m in!

Which show was this Traci? Battle Over Texas? I am training to compete again in 2022. Kuclo Classic or Battle Over Texas is what I’m looking at doing.

Awesome shot! Glad you are up for it.

Im always working on being in better shape. I work out min 30 min/ day 3-4 days 60 min+ Eating is my main focus this year. Less Carbs, intermittently fasting and cut out the sugar.

I'm in! It's time to kick it into high gear and get really serious about eating healthy and working out. Now that I've graduated from physical therapy from my recent ankle procedure, I'm all fired up and ready to go.

I'm in. But my goals are much more low key. I have been struggling with an auto immune disease and an immune deficiency, and trying to get stable enough to practice photography more, work more, and exercise. So my main goal is to make sure that every day, even on days I really don't feel well, that I push through and do some basic strength exercises and go for a walk. My body has def gone downhill and I need to gain strength and endurance to live the life I want to have! :)

I'm in! I just recently graduated from physical therapy for my ankle procedure and am ready to kick it into high gear. Lets do this!

1 year apart! First shot is Jan 2 2020 before I started running. Second shot is from yesterday. You can't see it on my face but in number one I'm flexing hard enough to tear a hole in space time. In number 2 I gave a pretty half-hearted flex.

This isn't some crazy workout regiment. I run 2 miles every other day and 3-4 miles when the mood strikes me. Diet is well balanced with equal amounts veggies, fruit, rice, beans and meats. Meat is probably what I eat the least. Oh and I drink water like a fiend, usually around 80 oz a day. For me it's not about the scale but about how I feel, and at 38 I'm feeling way more fit than I did at 28!

"flexing hard enough to tear a hole in space time".... I literally spit out my drink reading that LOL.. Looking good Rich!

Water is apparently key. I never drink enough. I filmed a video series for a health coach recently and her recc is that you drink "half your body weight in ounces per day" (so 100 ounces if you weigh 200 lbs), and of that a pint before each meal. There, just saved you $250 coaching fee!

Yeah I'm putting down a little under 100 oz a day. Not sure of my current weight but scale is on the way ??

I'm in. I had lost 32 pounds last year and recently found 10 of them again. My goal is to get to 170 lbs by St Paddy's Day. No real significance other than it's 10 weeks from today. At that point, I'll reassess and see if 160 is needed.

I am in!! I need to loose the Kgs!!

Sir Richard Branson's, "How to make goals and stick to them." https://virgin.com/branson-family/richard-branson…

Who is getting their workout in today?

Thats one hell of a run, good work. I'm just getting started with the couch to 5k, so I'm on a totally different level, but putting the work in too.

Slightly late to the party, but great work everyone for putting your challenges out there. I'm completely out of shape - currently weighing in myself at 16 stone (224lbs), the heaviest I've ever been. But have started a weights program and doing the couch to 5k, to get myself to a point where I can run 5k.

Might not sound much, but that, home schooling, and getting a business off the ground will make 2021 a successful year!

Good luck everyone!

I’m in for this year again... This years goals are drop my body fat to 15%, Lean muscle mass of 217lbs, and increase my vo2 max by 10 points.

That V02 max is a pain to get up! You've got this.

Yes it is and you lose it faster than you gain it.

Im in!
During the spring/summer I was lifting 6 days a week, running 3-5 miles twice a week then it all came to a halt when I broke 7 ribs, punctured a lung, injured my shoulder and my back. After about 2 months of barely moving (and no sneezing) I finally got to walk 0.25miles and sneeze (after 68 days of holding it every time).
I'm ready to get back to fitness and get back in shape!
My final day of Physical therapy was December 31st, 2020, so I got the go ahead to get back to the gym.

Goals: 170-178lb
14-16% BF
Strengthen injured shoulder and back
January 1 - Even 212.0lb
January 1 - 31.3% BF
I'll be using an InBody scanner for BF (1 time/month)
Tracking my caloric/macros via MyFitnessPal (Daily)
I'll be working at at home (6 days a week using 1st Phorm app)

I'll also set a running goal like Rich Soublet , I'll join the 8minute mile as a goal, but i'll set a stretch goal to get 1 mile sub 7 minutes (6:59 and i'll be happy!)

Lets GET THIS!

Okay I Love this! I am new and would love to meet folks this way :)

I'm all in! Ordered my Hydrow on Cyber Monday a few months ago and I'm stoked that it's arriving soon. Inspired by a close friend I'm setting a goal of rowing 1 million meters in a year. Let's go!!

Great challenge! I am at 241 and want to get down to 180-190. Tomorrow is my 31st birthday. I am going to start walking every day starting tomorrow

A friend of mine lost 100 lbs in 9 months because he started walking. A little walking turned into more walking, then a bit of jogging, etc.

220 burpees today! I've got it in my instagram story today.

That is insane and completely awesome. I just completed a two week burpee challenge and had to complete 24 on day 14. You are a machine!

I lost another 10-lbs for a total of 40-lbs! I have 40-lbs to go to reach my June goal. I'll be moving at the end of this month to Arizona where I'll have a pool! I'll be doing aqua aerobics for my non-weight bearing exercises, plus I'll be working out on my rowing machine and taking my dog for walks at the park next door!

Awesome Veronica! Thats a great achievement! You got this:)

Let’s do this!!! I endeavor to lose 20lbs by Sept 7th.

Totally in! Dropped 15 lbs last year, looking to drop another 15lbs this year, before my 35th birthday in July. Let’s do it

Morning people! So it looks like a few of you are doing keto to help achieve your goals....who wants to share some of their greatest keto food finds? Currently I'm loving on my miracle noodles - 0carbs and strangely filling! Oh, and the Atkins Caramel nut bars that taste just like Snickers - amazing! I'm down 10lbs so far, but the first 10 are the easiest - another 30 to go!

Those atkins bars are good!. shirataki noodles, magic spoon cereal, lily's chocolates for me. I check my blood after and It doesn't kick me out of ketosis. I'm trying "January Carnivore month" for 30 days. we'll see how it goes.

I didn't know about magic spoon! Thanks for the recommendation! I need a faster breakfast solution! I need to figure out a ketosis measurement tool...I had some pizza on Wednesday and im kicking myself - no more cheat meals until im 50% towards my goal! Its not worth the amount of time it takes to get back into ketosis!

THANK YOU!....Ive been looking for something with an app! If there's an app involved, then im all in!
