#SNAPTEMBER2017 Who's with me?

Okay, I decided to blow the dust off #SNAPTEMBER

We did #snaptember for the first time last year, which was pretty awesome. So I think we should do it again!

This is a serious kick in the butt for getting you out there and start shooting, connecting and building your business/portfolio. If you missed it last year, this is the deal:

1. Shoot a person every day in September, starting Sept 1st and finishing Sept 30th.
2. Create a gallery on your HeadshotCrew profile called Snaptember 2017.
3. Post your daily image in that album and comment with a link to your ALBUM in this post ( https://headshotcrew.com/post/178393 ) . (no individual images please!)
4. Go absolutely bonkers sharing the shot you've uploaded in your gallery (use the link to your HSC gallery image) on social and use #snaptember2017 and tag the @headshotcrew

Shots can be scheduled appointments in the studio, or a person you meet in the streets shot with an iPhone. However you approach it, I do want you to shoot every single day..

I'm gonna give away 1 free hour of coaching (portfolio review, marketing, whatever) to 1 person who gets in 30 shots following the above rules, one a day in September with me! Winner gets picked on the overall look of the 30 shots. And we might add some more cool stuff to win as the month progresses.

Benefits:

1. You shoot more and get better at coaching people.
2. You get content to share and build a social media presence.
3. You get a better change to get noticed by prospective clients.
4. If you get people in your studio, you have 30 chances to get portfolio shots for your review!

So, are you with me? FIRE IT UP!

I was JUST about to ask you about this. I signed up to HSC last year halfway through Snaptember, so I missed out. Let's get this going!

I'm glad I beat you to it.. haha

Oh people, this was an AMAZING experience. I pulled off all 30 shots for the 2016 SNAPtember extravaganza and it was pretty cool. It was actually harder than I thought - to remember, to have the courage to approach different people even when I was caught up in the whirlwind of everyday life. I made it my mission to look for people as I went about my daily life outside the photography studio to photograph for SNAPtember. But it became so much more than the challenge of photographing a different person every day. I met the most interesting people. Humans who, if not for the project, I would not necessarily ever approach or take a few minutes to get to know. They all had a story, and I was able to connect with them through photography and capture just a little glimpse into their lives. I was so affected by the experience...this is what I wrote to Maurice after participating last year

"I just wanted to thank you for your snaptember idea. At first I just made it my mission to shoot anybody...just get the pic done so I had one to post to get the assignment done, but I'm now realizing the joy it brings me...to really look around, study the people around me, to notice those gems - a quirky look, a kind aura, somebody who is unique and looks like they have led an interesting life. Not necessarily somebody who would go in my headshot portfolio, but one that has a personal story that would be interesting to learn about. Have a genuine conversation with them. The photos have become a secondary bonus, more like a momento and reminder of my experience. Such a cool idea and it has enabled me to grow, not just as a photographer, but as a person. Thank you Maurice! "

So pick up those cameras and go meet some interesting humans! It is such an amazing experience!

It was pretty amazing, right!
Are you up for another round?

oh boy, I'm going to be in Palm Springs for Portrait Masters for a week in September...that ups the challenge a little!

No better place to up your portrait mastery I reckon ;-)

Did this last year at it was groundbreaking for me! It's what catapulted headshots from being like 10% of my business to nearly 100% 1 year later! And it's what got my portfolio up to par to pass my Associate review with Peter at the end of Sept last year. Can't recommend this enough to anyone looking for that catalyst to shift your headshot business into high gear. :)

Thank you Tommy! I'm really glad that my idea behind worked totally for you!

Ryan Parker won the contest i think :-) ? Did i miss the follow up about this ?

I didn’t know there was a contest. I did it for myself. No need to include me in the contest part. This was huge for my business, so I’ve already won enough.

Hey Ryan that is the same for me ! I loved doing it and i learned to work according the Hurley system fast. So i'am already a winner !! But a fast overall look during a crew cast or something will motivate other members to take part next year !! It's fun !! That's was what i was thinking about !! Now nothing is said anymore about this great "thing".
In Dutch; zo gaat het uit als een nachtkaarsje :-) = something like "now it is going out like a night candle/light" Your pictures are beautiful and consistent. Love them !

There's 4 people who completed Snaptember2017 with 30 images:

Bart van Hattem: https://headshotcrew.com/gallery/178443
Ryan Parker: https://headshotcrew.com/gallery/178447
Lynda Chan: https://headshotcrew.com/gallery/178186
Robert Read: https://headshotcrew.com/gallery/178464

I'll put it on the list of one of the upcoming crewcasts next week!

Maurice ! It was such a huge thing on social for me !! (but also for the Crew in total i think ! and... for the people in front of my lens; they were blown away of the respons of there images) I think it is important for the Headshot Crew to do this every year ! It was awesome Maurice !
I posted all on Instagram; bvhfotografie (and in the gallery of course)

Thank you Bart! This was the 2nd annual snaptember, I'm definitely planning on doing a third.

I might even come up with some other things throughout the year in a similar fashion.

People who've participated in the snaptember and followed it through all had great responses and kicked their business and skillset up a notch, which was the goal for me coming up with this.

This was a great experience for me and definitely gave me a boost, both behind the camera and in the business. Thanks, Maurice!

Thanks for the Snaptember, Maurice. It was a good push in the discipline side of just making something happen every day. And I figured Ryan Parker won, too! I think I missed the Crewcast it got listed in--which one was it?

I'm in, although I hate commitment!

The thought of doing this makes me wanna barf. So, I'll do it.
