I first picked up a camera while in college. My dad has a nice collection of cameras he has picked up over the years and he let me learn on an old Nikkormat SLR 35mm. I enjoyed taking pictures of campus and my fellow students. I continued using film after leaving college and enlisting in the US Marine Corps, but after a few years I put it down to focus on the work the DoD had for me. It wasn't until 2012 that I bought my first dSLR, a tiny Canon T3i with two kit lenses. With a pretty solid foundation in using an older mechanical film camera, re-learning with a digital one was pretty quick, and soon I outgrew the T3i. Not in any mega-pixel sense, just that I wanted to be able to make my changes quicker, so I bought a 7D and it really opened my eyes to the power of the modern digital camera.
I have only recently finished the PH Headshot Intensive and know I have a lot of information to digest and internalize. I'll never have the exuberance that Peter does, but I can still apply the skills and lessons he taught in a way that will allow me to improve my photography.
