Kolin Mendez is a seasoned photographer and documentarian with over 10+ years of professional experience in lifestyle photography and portraiture. He specializes in capturing the nuances of movement, culture, identity, and purpose across mediums.
Kolin views event photography as an avenue for on-lookers to live through events and for audiences to relive experiences, capturing moments that amplify ambiance and commemorate moments through mid-movement shots and stills. His portfolio finds a balance between the casual nature of candid photos in culture and arts events, including The Tribeca Film Festival, Well-Read Black Girl’s Annual Writer’s Festival, and CultureCon; and the more formal aspects of corporate engagements such as The Apollo Theater Spring Gala. He has been a featured photographer at flagship productions including First Saturdays at the Brooklyn Museum of Art, Apollo Theater’s 85th Spring Gala, and CurlFest.
In addition to working with organizational clients to capture company events and corporate productions, Kolin partners with individual patrons to chronicle personal milestones and celebrations. This includes custom portraiture and specialty sessions. He collaborates with clients to co-design a vision and brings them to life in stills, drawing from elements of fine art and using his keen eye for detail to make shoots as dynamic as possible. He specializes in headshot and branding portrait sessions and cultural-based productions.
A lifelong photographer, he launched his formal photography career in 2011. A native New Yorker, Kolin is based in Brooklyn. For more information, visit kolinmendez.com.
