40 years ago I bought a Honeywell Pentax k1000. Art was the only type of photography I would do. The process was, smoke weed, find a cool place, and shoot away in abstract angles, climbing trees, laying in a creek, swinging from a rope, anything I thought was creative or anything I was dared to do. Photography was around me all the time, my mother did portraits and weddings back in the 30's, 40's, and 50's, part time. She had a twin Rolleiflex and it was awesome to look through and those nice big medium format negs. But 35mm was the shit in the 70's, much easier to handle in the field. Then I saved up and got me the big beast, Nikon F2. I also broadened my ideology of what was art and what wasn't. People were and still are my favorite subject to shoot. During my 38 years in the Restaurant/nightclub business, I was ripping away shots of bands and customers, honing my skills, but I wanted better rez, so I was thinking Hasselblad, Right? Nope, Contax just came out with the 645 and with my 35mm background it was a perfect fit. So, now the plan is, acquire the hardware I need and wait until I'm 50, sell the Night club and slide into photography, which I was doing for bands, politicians, weddings(suck), headshoots, and for the local SPCA (14 years). Got me some digital also, Fuji S2, Kodak 14N, Nikon D200, D3, D5100, D800, so now I'm ready to go?
80-200mm f2.8lens 105mm micro f2.8, 28mm f2.0, 24-120 zoom(Crap but good for parties where there was tons of booze and beer), Zeiss 85mm F1.4, and then the 58mm 1.2 Noct.
