WHERE ARE YOU FROM AND WHERE DO YOU LIVE NOW? I was born in Queens, NY, moved to New Jersey and now I live in Manhattan on the Upper East Side with my wife, 2 boys, and my little poodle, Pippen.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN SHOOTING HEADSHOTS?

Well, I’ve been taking good headshots for 2 years, but before that, it was a lot of random photos of people's heads.

WHAT IS YOUR LIGHTING SETUP FOR HEADSHOTS?

I use the Peter Hurley Flex kit with 2 speed lights for the background.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR STUDIO. DO YOU OWN IT? RENT IT? OR LIVE IN IT?

I rent my studio in Manhattan, about a 30-minute walk from my home and 5 minutes from Central Park. My shooting space is 10 x 10 with a small office and kitchen, I also have roof access which my clients really like to go to and shoot on.

WHAT ELSE DO YOU LIKE TO SHOOT?

I did a lot of candid street photography at the beginning of my career, it’s buried down deep in my Instagram feed.

WHEN DID YOU FIRST DISCOVER PH AND THE HSC?

I found Peter twice at Photo Plus in NYC. The first time I walked past Peter in the HSC booth, I saw this guy yelling with a mic attached to his face! He seemed larger than life with this head of hair that looked like it could engulf you. I ran past and said this guy is nuts!

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE YOU TO JOIN THE CREW ONCE YOU FOUND IT?

It took me another full year before the next Photo Plus where I walked by the HSC booth again, but this time Peter seemed a little calmer, and with a short haircut. Now that I know Peter, he was most likely recovering from a night out. I spoke with Richard Waine and Robert Read and then I joined the crew (Yes, even after speaking to them, just kidding) it changed my direction in photography and my life.

WHAT IS ONE THING PEOPLE WOULD NEVER GUESS ABOUT YOU?

I use to do a lot of Karate, some MMA, and Kickboxing. Yes, there were some broken bones but not for the reasons you may think.

WHAT IS ONE THING YOU WISH PEOPLE KNEW ABOUT YOU?

I actually like to help people, but I don’t expect anything in return. I just enjoy talking to people that I don’t know. My goal has always been if I can just help one person learn one new thing then I feel like I accomplished something.

Coming from you that means a lot, not kidding here.

Nice Spotlight. I either don't want to meet you in a dark alley; or have you as my muscle in a dark alley. :-)

Love your work, Scott, love learning from you :). Absolutely remarkable and memorable!!

Great story, Scott! I love the MMA part :)

Beautiful work Scott! I can say first hand you have been very helpful to me, especially when I first started on the crew. You spent some time with me on the phone guiding me with lighting and Capture One. Becoming Mentor is well deserved!

The voice of Clubhouse, great to know a little more about you and top work.

Hey Scott, really enjoying your talks on Clubhouse - which is what essentially moved me to push the button on HSC.
