headshot crew networking

I've recently been contacted by fellow associate photographer Jen Kelly. She was looking for a photographer in Zurich to do a headshot of an employee of one of her international corporate clients. I've contacted the employee, did the shoot and delivered the images to her. Jen's client never had to get in contact with me or care about anything.

Now this is a really powerful way to leverage the headshotcrew. What you get as a member of this group is not only the knowledge, but also the network. You can actually provide photography services all around the globe. And you can rely on the quality of the people you hire, because they've gone through this selection process by Peter. Given the right client, I'd say this really boosts your value as a photographer. I mean, who else can organize an international team of photographers within a couple of days?

Of course, not many of you are dealing with international corporate clients every day, but still.. having this option is very cool and I'd like to encourage everyone to use it, if you're ever in a spot like this. Help each other out.

Cheers
Kevin

Jen Kelly has been doing that with her client for a number of HSC members. I've been doing it as well. I hope others will too. The worldwide reach is extremely powerful and only growing. I think that's the biggest SHABANG there is!

I'm all for networking and referring potential clients to Crew mates!

Recently, I encountered a potential client who might not be able to get to my studio due to scheduling between work and her kids. If I need to travel to her, it becomes cost prohibitive.

My first thought was to refer her to Crew members in the area. I provided her with a few names, and if she chooses to not make the trip to see me, at least she's got the names and info for a few solid photographers!

This was much appreciated Richard!!

In short, I'm happy with anyone in the Crew getting business if it's not myself because the product and overall experience is going to be better for the client. I want the overall headshot bar raised to what the crew can do versus the other shlubs in the area here. It benefits us all to set that standard.

Jason, its not a problem at all. I agree. The point is to raise the standard.

Also, you just never know who our clients know. We could end up shooting someone, who turns us on to an international company, which puts the Crew to work!

The more solid we are, individually AND as a team, the stronger our brand(s) become, and the stronger the Crew gets.

I feel we should all be doing this when the opportunities arise, be it an international client, or just catching wind that a headshot photographer is needed in a different city.

I'm part of several Ontario-Specific photography forums, and through them have referred Eugene, Anita, and Emily multiple times. Unsure how much work has come out of it - but I'd rather put their names into the mix, than say nothing, just because it's outside my personal AOR.

I've shot for Jen too. A couple times. Great experiences.
