In the Fstoppers link shared below it says "Owners of Capture One Pro 8 that purchased the software after October 30, 2015 are eligible for a free upgrade to Capture One Pro 9" :)
No Worries, Ross! I upgraded for a few different reasons: Keeps me current on my software and technological advances, and its a tax deduction at the end of the year. So, Im ok with making a few investments if I have the capital to do so.
Thanks. That would be great. Then I could leave LR behind and use C1 for everything. I couldn't believe importing PSD files was not supported. I hope they fixed that.
Kathryn, I have not been able to import a PSD into the C1 catalog / session. I have also been unable to copy a PSD into a session. Im not sure why C1 is unable to do this. Perhaps Iain Mackenzie has a better notion, as he is C1 certified. As far as I can tell, no dice.... yet.
When I am finished editing a file in Photoshop I give it to the client in three crops: horizontal, square 500 px web version, and either a vertical or uncropped (I do this in case they come back to me months later asking for a copy with the top of their head). It's so much easier to export these from C1 with my recipes but only if I can import the PSD. I could of course convert to a jpg or tiff but I often go back and make further edits so having the ability for C1 to see my psd files would be so convenient. Lightroom can import PSD I do it LR but I find C1 easier to work with.
I was thinking that Kevin. I confess that I don't understand what TIFF's are doing and so I don't trust them. For example one of the options is save as mac or pc format? What the hell? I remember back in the early days of web development all my TIFFs were displaying inverted because of this setting. Ever since I don't quite trust them. However, my wingee and I worked with TIFFs and a C1 catalog when he was putting the final touches on his portfolio and it worked fine. So maybe...
Just downloaded C9 trial. Tethering is now lightning fast compared to C8 and LR. Don't know why but it's about 1.5 seconds from click to voila in C9 and 3 seconds in C8 and LR is an embarrassing 6-9 seconds. LR improves a bit with rapid fire bringing it down to about 3 seconds but still not comparable to C9. Thought some of you would find this interesting.
Does anyone know if you can minimize all panels to have image fill the screen while tethering? I'm just getting into Capture now so don't know all the tricks yet.

Thanks Richard for sharing that link. Don't see a whole lot in the upgrade that would affect my workflow. Probably just stick with version 8 for now.

Do you know if you can import psd files with this upgrade?
I'll give it a shot and report back!

Thanks for trying.
Never had the need to have my PSD's in C1.. Why would you want that? Maybe I'm missing something....

does the PSD store more than a TIFF? because I always just use TIFF files in Photoshop. It has all my layers etc. in there.
