Tim Barden is a Vermont born photographer, actor, singer and director. Mr. Barden's love for performing arts photography began at age 17. One day, while performing in a Shakespearean reparatory theater company, he begin capturing candid images of the company both on and off stage with his 35mm rangefinder camera brought back from Japan by his older brother. He developed a style of push processing black and white negatives which, with a high contrast darkroom technique caught the eye of the company's producer who quickly bought a range of photos for use in marketing campaigns in New York and London.
Years later he met and married dancer Jennifer Marshall and their partnership in dance and performing arts education in Vermont began. Barden soon expanded his photography to include dance and has documented thousands of students, some who have gone on to professional careers in dance and theater.
In addition to his personal work, Mr. Barden is the resident photographer for New York Stage Originals, Spotlight Vermont, The Bill Reed Musical Theater Intensive, and Long Island's Red Hot Mamas. He is also the moderator of the Theater Photography group on Google+.
