I have taken the head shots of thousands of teddy bears. Ya, you read that right.
I've always been a crafty person, but in 1994, I made a teddy bear that turned craftiness into a small, part time cottage industry. I turned an old fur coat into a bear. Two books, countless workshops globally and almost 20 years later, what really grabbed me about the whole process was the photography.
Through it all, I worked full time as a police officer. The department provided me with a very good technical training in photography, and I now work strictly in forensics. That means a lot of crime scene photography. I go no where without a camera. These pictures must be technically accurate, but they leave no room whatsoever for artistic interpretation.
And the artist wants to be heard! So... the teddy bear studio is currently being transformed into a photography studio. Grand opening day is tentatively set for Sept 1st 2012.
I love to shoot people. They are, I believe, what make a photo interesting. Headshots, portraits, and dance photography are my favourites. I also love photoshop for the images that can be created with photos as the medium. Ghost photography composites that are nostalgic yet eerie, are also my passion, and the area where I let loose with photoshop.
I'm learning. I'm always learning. I'm here to learn.
