About Katie

I fell in love with photography as a child when I joined a local 4-H club. My dream was to pursue the art into high school and college, but the expense of developing film and the timidness of my youth led me to give it up to try something more affordable and "practical". When I grew up I learned that "practical" is simply not what my heart wanted out of life. So when I got the chance in 2009 to learn digital photography as an extra duty for my graphic design job at a manufacturing corporation I jumped in! I've since completed hundreds of hours of education both online and at live seminars across the country to inform and better equip myself to produce the kinds of art I want to bring into the world.

I've been creating as many shooting opportunities as I can for myself, having only nights and weekends free as I'm still at the day job, and am BEYOND excited to hone my craft and make connections through the Headshot Crew to make it all happen.

I spent my weekends in 2015 photographing hundreds of families, seniors, babies and pets for a national portrait company in local parks. It was a joy to meet so many different people and make great photographs for them. They were quick 30-minute shoots, but I learned so much making thousands of photographs, and am eager to put what I've learned to use in a different market.

I am fascinated and moved by beauty. Having some friends who are either working professional make-up artists and fashion designers, or are just damned stylish and lovely, I've had the opportunity to have a hand in creating a few wonderful collaborations. After those shoots I realized that I want to devote as much of my time as possible for the rest of my life to capturing beautiful faces in all of their artful forms. Once I noticed the trend in my shooting compositions to crop for headshots rather than more full-length portraits, I decided to really dive in to learning how to make the best possible headshots in any situation -- so here I am! Let's shoot, crew!
