I AM A HIGH SCHOOL PHOTOGRAPHY TEACHER AT COALINGA HIGHSCHOOLJ LANCE Imaging - New York City/Brooklyn NY, and San Diego CA J Lance: Professional Photographer and owner of J Lance Imaging studios in North Williamsburg - Brooklyn, NY specializes in all Portrait Photography Including Straight, Gay,Lesbian, Transexual, and Bisexual, LGBT, Theatrical, Couples, Edgy, Pin Ups, Models, Actors, Children, Pets, Animals, Musicians, Head Shots, Music, Sports and Athletes, Dance, Ballet, Ice Skating, and Event Photography. In Addition, J Lance teaches digital photography and is a private tutor for photography, Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.
I have a Master’s in Digital Photography from the School of Visual Arts in New York City and was one of the first set of students to be accepted, and finish the online MPS Program. At this school I was trained by some of the best digital artists and photographers in the world including Katrien Eismann, author of multiple Photoshop Retouching books. As part of the curriculum, I was required to come to NYC to do my residency and while i was there I met a man while waiting for the train. It was Jay Colton of Time Magazine. He mentored me the entire time i was in NY until his sudden passing in September. I became very good friends with his wife, Moira and son Christopher and still today they treat me like family. With Mr colton's direction and the 10,000 plus hours I have spent shooting and retouching images, I am confident and consider myself an expert at my craft.
I have done retouching workshops with renowned retouching artists; Calvin Hollywood in London, (twice) Greg Gorman in Hollywood, and surf photographer Art Brewer in Puerto Rico. (Along with Malcolm Lightner from SVA). In addition, I assisted Heinze Klutemeir, photographer from Sports Illustrated (famous for the image and SI cover, Miracle on Ice) and he along with Jay colton's brother Jimmy Colton of Sports Illustrated has become a huge influence in my photography career.
