Although I am based in the Washington, D.C. area I am originally from Ithaca, New York where I first learned to shoot film with a primitive 35mm SLR. I was fortunate to have a job while in college as a darkroom technician in an electron microscopy lab where precision black and white printing was critical. A side benefit of working in the lab was that I was able to develop and print my own work. Having the freedom to experiment in the darkroom was where I learned the techniques and nuances that allow me to make carefully crafted images.
