I was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI. When I was 19, I joined the US Air Force and I married my childhood sweetheart. We lived in California for 4 years before moving back to Michigan in 2006. We wanted to move back home and start a family. We now have 3 incredible children and haven’t looked back since. After getting out of the military I have found success and a few failures along the way while trying to carve out my path. My philosophy has always been to take what I need from every scenario and apply what I’ve learned along the way. It’s only a failure if you haven’t learned from it.
I would consider my absolute love for photography to be a passionate pursuit. Much like training for a game as an athlete, I strive to continue to get better than I was yesterday. My photography journey is young but my drive to create has always been apart of my life. From a young age I learned that I had knack for figuring out how things work. That’s what really drew me in to photography. I would look at images and think to myself “how’d they get that shot?” I would begin to reconstruct what I imagined the setup would look like. Long story short, I jumped right in and decided to turn my passion into my career.
I am truly blessed to be able to do what I love, as they say. I am actually a slight introvert and the thought of meeting new people can sometimes make me uncomfortable. I mainly shoot real estate for that reason alone. However, my desire to create and all the while, make people feel good about themselves, overshadows that. When I’m behind the camera I find that I’m able to forget about being introverted.
When I’m not shooting real estate or headshots, I am usually looking for some sports to shoot. I really enjoy shooting football and lacrosse. In fact, this is where I found my passion for photography. My kids will always have the coolest Instagram photos. We travel all year round to different lacrosse tournaments and if I’m not coaching, I’m shooting.
Thank you for taking the time to hear more about me.
