Hello, my name is Tyler Chappell. I am a professional headshot photographer originally from Jasper, IN. I graduated from Purdue University in May 2014 with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Acting, where I minored in Computer and Information Technology and Technology Leadership and Innovation. It is during this time where I began developing my craft for acting while pursuing my love for technology that my passion for photography was realized.
I have been photographing headshots for actors and actresses for 6 years, although I have 15 years of experience working with Photoshop.
My experience and training in the Patti and Rusty Rueff School of Visual and Performing Arts at Purdue University's Yue-Kong Pao Hall, combined with my love of computers and technology, has provided me with a spectacular foundation for understanding light and the delicate art of the headshot
When meeting new actors and actresses, I go from being "photographer", to friend, partner, and coach. I take a great deal of pride in knowing that I am not merely photographing these people's faces, but that I am helping them to begin their lifelong journey of their artistic craft. My creatives, as I like to think of them as, are not just gaining a finished product that they can confidently carry into an audition room, they are receiving a valuable investment in themselves and a solid representation of who they are, and anyone that they can aspire to be.
Their headshot might be half their resume, or it may in fact be their whole resume, depending on the casting director. I am able to capture each microcosm of the roles they are born to play, and the character of who they are. Nothing is more valuable to me than that moment that I see them transform through the lens and grasp every little photon of their being, and I can see receive no greater compliment than them saying I made them confident in front of camera as they look at their photos in disbelief and awe.
Make no mistake, I am a photographer. But I am also an actor. An artist. A skiier. A gamer. A computer nerd.
And I will continue to photograph what I consider to be the most beautiful people in the world.
