Homemade 1x3 Hard Diffusion Panel Flex Kit

I had some requests to make this post, I also made a video too, link below. Westcott has discontinued their 1x3 hard diffusion panels and will not be making them again. I won't take full credit for this, but someone on the forum recommended buying LED light panel sheets from Tap Plastics. I've pasted the link below. If you dont have a TAP plastics store in your area i'm sure any plastics store will have them. I bought one sheet at first and cut out a 1x3 strip. I then attached industrial velcro along the sides. When finished it is basically the exact thing as what westcott made ones.

Now I have a first edition flex kit, so the lights are mega bright and powerful. So after my first shoot with them, I noticed the westcott 1x2 panels were a bit thicker and provided a bit more diffusion. I went back to the store and bought another sheet and then double up the layer on my 1x3s. This I found was more accurate in terms of matching the westcott made ones. I was lazy and just added more velcro to the new sheet and just laid it on top. The panels work great though. Honestly if you're investing in the kit, get or make some hard dif panels. It really does make that might softer. Check out the video link if you have questions.

THANK YOU! I was just moaning to someone the other day that these have been discontinued.

I waited forever for them and finally got a hold of a rep when they told me they arnt making them again. They're worth it though

totally agree! I am placing my order today, appreciate the link to buy my own.

Ahhhh.... this is perfect! Thank you so much Chris!

I don't own a flex kit yet. but is this a need for headshots to diffused even more?

In my opinion this is going to be personal preference. But I can say the panels do a better job and diffusing individual LEDS. With the fabric, I can see them, with the panel it's just an even soft light.

I made this off the video and it worked for me, like the fact that I do not have to keep stretching out the fabric. Didn't take long to make, the hardest part for me was applying the velcro
