This portrait of my wife was taken in our backyard in Malaysia on a day that felt like every other here, hot, humid, and relentless, which still hits us hard coming from the US. Both of us were running high fevers from Influenza A. She begins a new teaching role soon, and the school needed her profile photo that same day. We were exhausted but still wanted something that felt personal and professional, not just another ID photo. I set up a single Godox AD300 Pro with an AD-S85s softbox and worked fast in the heat, and somehow, in the middle of feeling awful, we captured a portrait that turned a miserable day into a milestone we will always remember.
