I’m Kambua Chema, a Chicago-based photographer, educator, and creative entrepreneur specializing in headshots, personal branding, and event photography.
For more than 25 years, I have been drawn to photography's power, not just to create beautiful images, but to help people feel seen, confident, and fully themselves. My work is rooted in connection. Before I ever press the shutter, I take time to understand the person in front of my lens, so the final image feels honest, polished, and deeply human.
My approach blends strong technical skill with warmth, direction, and a whole lot of joy. Whether I’m photographing a CEO, entrepreneur, artist, student, or woman stepping in front of the camera for the first time in years, my goal is the same: to create images that reflect presence, personality, and purpose.
I am also the creator of I Have Earned Every Line, a portrait and storytelling project celebrating women 50 and over through makeup-free, beauty-retouch-free portraits. The project honours age, truth, resilience, and the beauty of lived experience.
Beyond photography, I teach portraiture and help others build confidence behind the camera. Being part of the Breedlove women’s business development cohort helped me grow from thinking only as a creative to leading my photography practice as a CEO.
At the heart of everything I create is my belief that everyone deserves to be seen beautifully, honestly, and with intention.
Relate. Connect. Create.
