About Tyler

Hi, I’m Tyler.

I’m a photographer, journalist, and adventurer from a little town near Worcester, MA.

My job is a backstage pass to life and a chance to show people what they can't see for themselves. I photograph the people that make shit happen in industry, business, and the arts. Whether on stage with a symphony orchestra, dodging subway trains with tunnel maintenance workers, or making friends with second graders, I love nothing more than meeting these people and learning what they do and why.

I once heard a musician asked where she plays answer, "wherever they let me." I take this attitude to my work in the railroad industry, where I work as a freelance magazine journalist and as an advertising photographer and student brakeman for the Railroad Museum of New England. I've been fortunate enough to be allowed into some very cool places in an industry where safety is critical and outsiders are rightly kept at a distance.

Some people think I'm a well-rounded artist until they see my drawing ability (or lack thereof). I perform with a fife and drum corps, sing loudly and poorly while driving, and contra dance regularly. I was homeschooled and self-educated from preschool through higher ed and also worked as a science museum educator through my teenage years.

My work is a carefully-curated slice of reality. It’s honest, evocative, and polished without Photoshop trickery.

Reach out and say hi. I’d love to work with you.

Cheers!

Tyler
