About Stanley

Stanley Leary is a visual storyteller using a photojournalistic approach helping organizations build customer loyalty.

Stanley’s formal education of a B.S. in social work and a M.A. in communication makes him uniquely qualified to help people right in their own environment, by looking at all the different aspects of their life and culture.

His international assignments have taken him to Portugal, Romania, Burkina Faso, France, Ghana, Haiti, Honduras, Guatemala, Mexico and Ontario. Stanley’s extensive US assignments cover most states including Hawaii. His work has appeared in magazines around the world. This cross-cultural experience helps his clients by capturing the subject and communicating often across cultural differences to the audience.

Prior to freelancing Stanley worked as a staff photographer for The Hickory Daily Record in Hickory, NC and for The Commission magazine in Richmond, VA. He was a staff photographer for Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta for nine years. Clients appreciate his understanding of how to get their subject into mainstream media.

Stanley loves to share his expertise and teaches widely. Many of his clients use his teaching expertise to help their staffs use visuals more effectively.

He has taught photography and the business of photography at such diverse places as University of The Nations in Hawaii, Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Georgia, Reinhardt College, Waleska, GA, Berry College in Georgia, Portfolio Center in Atlanta and at Dallas Baptist University. He has been a guest lecturer at World Journalism Institute and the Southwestern Photojournalist Conference in Fort Worth, Art Institute of Atlanta, the Atlanta Chapter of the ASMP and the Southeastern Photographic Society.

Stanley is married to Dorie Griggs and they have three children.
