About Jennifer

JENNIFER PACKARD has been capturing the world around her since she was in single digits, stalking squirrels and wild flowers off the beaten path with her father’s Kodak Instamatic 110 film camera. Her curiosity and compulsive desire to document the spirit and the sublime she sees in her subjects has grown ever since. Inspired by her father’s service in the US Navy in WWII, she served in the Navy Reserves as a public affairs officer, documenting the activities of Seabees in Naval Construction Forces around the globe.

She earned a BFA in Applied Media Arts/Photography, and a Masters in Communication Studies from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. In 2016, Jennifer completed the Headshot Intensive workshop in New York City, whereby she studied headshot photography under Peter Hurley, the #1 headshot photographer in the world.

She previously taught photography at the Community College of Allegheny County’s Lifelong Learning program in West Mifflin, PA, the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Center’s After School Program in Erie, PA, and Edinboro University’s Summer Enrichment Program for talented and gifted high school students. Additionally, she employed photography as a rehabilitative tool working with homeless women and at-risk youths.

Adding to her creative capabilities, in 2014 Jennifer completed an intense 10-week program studying User (UX) Experience design at General Assembly in Washington, DC. She worked in software development and delivery for the Department of Veterans Affairs, and has also supported government, E-commerce and start-up website projects.

She also worked in videography as a news videographer/editor for WSEE-TV, the Erie, PA CBS affiliate, and independently produced and directed two productions that aired on WQLN-TV, Erie, PA's Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) station.

Jennifer is a member of the National Press Photographer’s Association (NPPA) and is published in USA Today, NBC News, ABC Newspapers, Self.com, Navy Times, Seabee Magazine, and others. She lives in Washington, DC.
