This is a capture of Nelson, he is a relation of mine so he was happy to work on some lighting setups in the studio, I'm very new to the studio setups and been focusing on the standard looks and to also bring something from my art style to my studio headshots, and in this image, I choose to shoot with one light to give me that challenge of using one angle of light that mimics my locations shoots with only using the sun. Using a harsh narrow light I wanted to capture nelson in a strong pose but also vulnerable while using less colour and the negative space of the backdrop and outfit to focus on his face and hands, working the hands to lead the eye to his face. I had this all in my head and was just casually directing nelson to get the pose I wanted but in a natural relaxed feel. Just used contrast and slight crop to finish the image to keep his look as naturally possible. From this image, we worked on an outfit change to colour and more of a relaxed face and smiling with the eyes.
