Dave Dolson, a physician specializing in the pathology of skin, has been a portrait photographer for over 20 years. He is the Medical Director of the Dermatology Associates Dermatopathology Laboratory and Assistant Clinical Professor at the Florida State University College of Medicine, where he teaches skin pathology to medical students and Dermatology Fellows in Mohs Micrographic Surgery. Dr. Dolson is also trained in total body mapping photography, a technique allowing for high-resolution photographic surveillance of individuals at high risk for cutaneous neoplasia. In an ongoing project, Dr. Dolson is applying the aesthetics of studio portraiture to create compelling clinical portraits of individuals with cutaneous lesions that are rare, interesting, and/or illustrative.
