I am Kambua, a Kenyan-American portrait photographer based in Chicago with more than 25 years of experience behind the lens. Before photography became my profession, it was how I moved through the world. I began as an observer of life, documenting my surroundings, travels, community, and personal experiences through street photography.

My formal photography journey deepened through Chicago Photography Classes, where I first studied photography and later became an instructor. My professional portrait and headshot work was further shaped by the Peter Hurley Headshot Crew, where I strengthened my approach to expression, direction, and presence in front of the camera.

Today, I am a photographer, educator, and creative entrepreneur specializing in headshots, personal branding, portraits, and event photography. Through Kambua Chema Photography, I create polished, authentic images that help people feel seen, confident, and fully themselves.

I am also the creator of I Have Earned Every Line™, a portrait and storytelling project celebrating women 50 and over through honest, makeup-free, beauty-retouch-free portraits.

At the heart of everything I create is my belief that everyone deserves to be seen beautifully, honestly, and with intention.
