Photographers wanted: Headshot Bookers 10,000 Headshots Initiative the brainchild of Tony Taafe

We'll be taking 10,000 headshots in one day all across the 50 states in the US. We'll be providing free headshots for anyone that lost their job due to Covid-19.

We will be setting photographers up with subjects for this and are in the process of meshing photographers with Brookfield Properties locations across the US. If you are interested in joining our 10,000 Headshots team and can handle shooting 50 people in one day fill out the form below.

Delivery of images will be handled in real-time with software from the amazing team at Spot My Photos, details, and training for all photographers on that to follow.

We will be supplying most photographers with a location for the shoot. You'll need to bring your headshot setup. Brookfield Properties has hooked up with us and we'll be shooting at their malls and other properties nationwide. If you have your own studio and feel comfortable sending people your way that's fine too.

We've also secured a number of sponsors including Canon and TetherTools. We'll be adding approved photographers to a private Facebook group where we'll be giving you more information. You'll receive an email once approved. All photographers must have headshot work to show us and have at least 5 headshots posted on their Headshot Crew Profile. If you don't have a FREE profile then sign up here and upload your best work: https://headshotcrew.com/user/register/basic

We need 250+ photographers willing to shoot 50 people in one day in 5-10 minute increments. Once spots fill up we will be looking for those interested in assisting for the day.

For now, we are keeping it within the US, but are open to having people shoot internationally, but will not be supplying location or subjects outside the US. We'd still love to have you involved, so feel free to add yourself below.

We are going for a Guinness Book of World Records record of shooting the most headshots ever taken in one day on the planet, so we can definitely use your help. It's all happening July 22nd, so YOU MUST be available that day.

Several of us in Seattle have been planning on an event like this when we open. We were figuring 250 headshots in this area. Steve setup a message on March 12th, so i think we're good in Seattle.

We've contacted several event planner and companies here. Decent interest.

PS: We were planning on a HSC branding (after we checked with Peter). We are not far enough along to have pitched to Peter yet. so this is good timing.

We figure we'd use a facility at a large company, so the hotel ideal is good. We may get space at Microsoft in this area.

Edit: We were thinking of four to five photographers in an event space for a long day.

I'm in. I think we need to have a central branding because once it's announced every other photographer in our markets will become copycats. One central brandi theme will help distinguish us from the rest of the markets.

I definitely agree with this.

Carmen Klammer's picture

I agree. Even if I do this by myself here in Italy I'd like to do it as a HSC photographer.

Or... Let them copy us and people will think they are part of the Headshot Crew's efforts.

In my market, there are a lot of folks with cameras who have no clue. I think we don't want them saying they're a part of HSC.

You’re totally right. We’ve got the central branding in place. It’ll be Headshot Booker!

Can the Headshot Booker manage groups sessions with multiple photographers at one location?

We should get estimates of how much the photographers would have charged for all the headshots they gave away, and present the total to media when pitching for news stories. No doubt it would be over $1,000,000 for the 10,000 headshots.

We should see if we can get backlinks to the local photographers for any local media outlets to boost the photographers' SEOs.

Yeah we’ll definitely be working on all of that stuff. We want to make it as valuable as possible for the photographers

I put this in my entry form, but seems like a no brainer to work with BNI. Am a member here in VT and the org has 270,000 members worldwide, with businesses of all sizes. As long as they didn't try to steal the marketing thunder, the beauty of promoting it through/to their members is that these are people who are geared toward word of mouth marketing, so making this effort have benefit for us photographers is baked in. Plus couldn't hurt to have the founder of the organization touting the importance of headshots to 270,000 businesses, and endorsing the Crew as the best place to get it done. My 2c.

If you are are a BNI member, you typically refer the photographer in your chapter. Would BNI Chapters, leadership, BNI franchise owners, and BNI Corporate be cool with referring others outside of BNI?

Paul Richardson's picture
Protégé

Absolutely. Fact is, there are not too too many photographers in BNI. And since, in this instance, it is all a pro bono effort, it does not help anyone win any "points" in terms of referred business dollars. Just a good way to help businesses and individuals succeed, and free way to help all BNI businesses look better (and understand the importance of a good professional headshot). Win win. Might have the added benefit of getting BNI photographers interested in HC.

Would these be done for with no charge? I don't see any details on the charity / purpose etc.

You gotta keep up with the crewcasts! These are for people who lost their jobs due to the politicians’ decisions to shut down businesses.

Hey Tony, I filled out the form for this a few weeks back but back then I didn’t have a suitable studio. I do now have a suitable studio for this but didn’t know how to change that on the form I submitted. Sorry if I’m being stupid. Lol. I’m in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Cheers mate.

Hi Michael!
I'm still in Bristol. I'll register. Is there any update? I didn't see this until today. I share a small studio space, just big enough for social distancing.

Put your names in guys, we’re going to be doing it in the US first, but will then our attentions there afterwards

Pete Buoy's picture

It could be too ambitious, but I think I am not alone.
First, I think you should collect information inside crew regarding how many people like to participate and where they're located.
Then start "advertising campaign " - " Headshot Crew gotcha you back" or something like this :), I am joking, but good slogan is important.
Goal of the campaign should be to find partners, companies who will be willing to participate:
Hotels was a good idea, but it can be any good size company. Big company usually have assistance programs for unemployed workers, they can add this to be part of their programs, will make them look good, while cost nothing. Talent or recruitment agency (Linked-in itself).
Can be a local church, sport facility, social club, in my case, maybe yacht club.
"Headshot Crew" will offer one full day of headshots at the client location. Can be one photographer or few.
Benefits for photographers? First, you have a chance to put your "foot in the door", meet business people, versus just some one who will come to your studio. (Microsoft - wow!!!). Second, photographers will get real time experience to shot (corporate) group of people, while responsibilities not as critical as "real" paid job, even it should be treated as real job as much as possible. Third, if this is group of photographers at one location, it is also a knowledge share (mini mania!!!).

And if this will be rolling, photographers can record their sessions and then it can be shared with the world and can be a very good SHABANG campaign for long time.

Pete Buoy's picture

I would like myself to other photographers studio, and can have my own lighting. Like some people suggesting. As long as it is in driving distance.

What about retouching? I would be willing to volunteer to take headshots, but i wouldn't be able to retouch all of them. I also cannot afford to outsource this job to someone else and pay for it.
