The Headshot Crash Course: Windsor Canada

This event has passed.

From 10am to roughly 4pm PEOPLE!

I designed my Headshot Crash Course in order to give you a one day jolt into what I consider headshotland. The concepts laid out over the course of the day are my tried and true ideas that I can’t live without whenever I’ve got someone in front of my camera. These are the highlights from my newly released book, "The Headshot."

As we all know, the most important thing in a portrait will always be the human face. For the photographer it doesn’t matter how far the subject is away from the camera, it’s always been our job to capture an interesting expression from our subjects. These are the techniques I use no matter where someone happens to be in my frame and they work whether my subject is 3 feet away or 30 feet away from my camera. I’m simply using my headshot taking process to shine a spotlight on these principles during this day long workshop. I’ve developed what I believe are the foremost tactics in pulling the best out of people in order to create images that I believe have what I call “lookability.”

The word lookability (yes, I made it up) is simply a measurement of a photographs ability to capture the attention of an onlooker. I believe it’s what we all want our pictures to do. In my work I have a burning desire to create these types of images day in and day out. For 15 years I’ve been honing my craft in order to have confidence in the way I coach my subjects throughout a shoot. In this course I will teach the very techniques that I just can’t live without. You’ll leave not only with a new awareness of the human face, but with tools that will take your portraiture to the next level.

Topics Covered:

Starting at 10am and powering it out until 4pm, I’ll be throwing out these gems in a lecture/shooting style operation. Working these concepts in during live shooting allows you to actively view the entire process of how I apply these ideas in real time. It’s going to be like a thunderbolt download into your brain of non-stop material, so get ready to take a ton of notes. If you are looking for tools that will help you convey what you want out of each person you photograph then this is exactly what you’ve been waiting for.
